The film adapts the French science fiction comic book Valerian: The Space-Time Agent. Created in 1967, the adventures of Valerian were published briefly in Brazil in the pages of The Globinho. In them, tough Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and his red-haired companion Laureline (Face Delevingne) use technology of the 28th century to travel through space and time and protect the planets that form the Empire of the Earth against thieves who plan to create paradoxes and break the continuum Space time.
