Hugh Jackman is cast to star in new Jason Reitman movie

Now that he has left his (eternal) post as Wolverine, Hugh Jackman begins to find something he has not seen for some time: spaces in his agenda. But the ever-busy actor does not want to let those loopholes in his schedule become slack. In addition to starring in The King of Show, in the role of P.T. Barnum, a legendary businessman in American show business, has just signed a contract to star in The Frontrunner, a new work by filmmaker Jason Reitman, who returns to politics, a theme he explored in his first film, the satirical Thanks For Smoke. Jackman will take on the role of Gary Hart, a United States senator from Colorado who was the favorite to be the Democratic nominee for the 1988 presidential election. However, when the politician's extramarital relationship with writer and activist Donna Rice was discovered, Hart was forced to withdraw his candidacy. The case, which has attracted media attention and has altered journalistic coverage of US congressional personal scandals, is analyzed in Matt Bai's book "All The Truth Is Out." Non-fiction portrays Hart's meteoric rise and dizzying fall, and is the background material for the script written by Bai himself, Jay Carson and Reitman. It is worth remembering that the winner of that year's election was Republican George Bush Sr., who defeated Democrat Mike Dukakis. There is still no further information on the plot of the feature or speculation about the next cast members. The Frontrunner is expected to be slow to hit theaters as Reitman will only be able to focus on the new project after the release of Tully, a comedy starring Charlize Theron and written by Diablo Cody - who rejoin the filmmaker - Debut for 2018.
