Star Wars: R2-D2 auctioned for almost $ 9 million

If you've always wanted to know how much it costs to have an R2-D2 at home, AdoroCinema tells you the value: approximately $ 3 million (or $ 9 million). The value was reached at an auction held in Calabasas, a town in southern California. The house responsible for the event, Profiles in History, reported that the item is composed of parts of models used in the recordings of five films of the franchise, from Star Wars (1977) to Attack of the Clones (2002). R2-D2 was purchased by an anonymous buyer for a price higher than that estimated by Profiles in History. In addition, a lightsaber used by Mark Hamill in chapters five and six of the Skywalker saga also went on sale, having been traded for almost $ 1.3 million. Could it be that in a few years we will also have the chance to have the beloved and charismatic BB-8 and the sabers of Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) at home? Only time will tell, but it's best to start putting the money together from now on. The next film in the franchise, the highly anticipated Star Wars - The Last Jedi, arrives in Brazilian cinemas on December 14th. Hamill, Ridley and Driver reprise their roles and the stellar cast of The Awakening Force - consisting of John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Carrie Fisher, Domhnall Gleeson and Gwendoline Christie - will also be back. Director Rian Johnson also won the reinforcements of Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern to narrate the next part of the Jedi's journey.
